Teacher: Hey , do you know why we celebrate Christmas every year?
Kid: Of course, it’s when Santa Claus brings us presents!
Teacher: Well, that’s part of it. But Christmas is also a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Kid: Who’s that?
Teacher: Jesus Christ is the son of God, who was born over 2000 years ago. Christmas is celebrated as his birthday.
Kid: But why do we give each other gifts then?
Teacher: That’s a great question. It’s said that the three wise men who visited baby Jesus brought him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. So giving gifts during Christmas is a way to honor that tradition.
Kid: Wow, I didn’t know that. What else do people do during Christmas?
Teacher: Well, people also decorate their homes and trees with lights and ornaments, sing Christmas carols, and have special meals with their families.
Kid: Yum, I love special meals! What do people eat during Christmas?
Teacher: Many people have a big feast with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and all sorts of yummy foods. And of course, there’s always lots of Christmas cookies and candy too!
Kid: Yay, cookies and candy! I can’t wait for Christmas!
Teacher: Me too. Christmas is a time for giving, sharing, and spreading joy. It’s a wonderful time of year to be with family and friends and to remember the true meaning of the holiday season.
